50-80 cm magasra megnövő, filigrán megjelenésű nősziromféle, üreges, egyvirágú szárral. A levelek keskenyek, sokkal rövidebbek a virágzó szárnál. A virág sötétlila, a lepel csúcsi, kerekded, fehéres rajzolatú része feltűnően nagyobb az alapi résznél.
